Aeronautical & Mechanical Engineers – Turbine VTOL

Here at JetPack Aviation we are redefining the future of personal flight. We are the inventors and currently only company that creates a turbine powered VTOL Jetpack. Now we are also working on some exciting new concepts that will enable fully stabilized and autonomous operations. We are a small company that is expanding every day as the world starts to hear more and more about the reality that Jetpacks are technology that is here and now.

We are looking for Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineers to help the engineering teams efforts in creating new and exciting aircraft. These positions will be working directly with the management/engineering team and pilots to design, build, and maintain the current Jetpack models and the new aircraft we are developing – the “Speeder”. We are looking for someone who wants to jump right into a new and exciting field in the aerospace/technology/extreme sports sectors. The ideal candidates will be very creative, hands on, super excited about the project, and have a solid engineering background to build off of.

What You’ll Do

  • Work directly with the head of engineering to design and develop new parts and systems for our new VTOL aircraft.
  • Generate detailed 3D models and 2D drawings on Solidworks of mechanical assemblies and packaging for electronics used on the aircraft.
  • Potentially work on Flight System controls and stabilization.
  • Manage vendors for different parts and systems that are on the aircraft.
  • Develop product concepts and engineering models for testing purposes and solve technical and performance problems.
  • Get hands on with the Jetpacks and our new aircraft to assemble all parts up to company standard. This includes getting your hands dirty and being able to assemble the Jetpacks and then take them out for testing.
  • Perform flight testing of the aircraft and prototypes at an offsite CA location.
  • Participate in the full product development process, including design brainstorming and ideation.
  • Perform required calculations to ensure all dimensions, tolerances and other specifications are correct as represented with minimal checking required.
  • Maybe required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Who You Are

  • Reliable, organized, forward-thinking and willing to learn.
  • Self motivated and able to work with minimal direction.
  • Knows the importance of good design and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Solidworks and the different packages Solidworks offers (Simulation, Flow, CAM, etc.).
  • Advantage if you have a strong electronics background, possibly a minor/ second major in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Also a strong plus if you have drone Stabilization experience. Arduino/Rasberry Pi/General Coding competency.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Able to work non traditional hours. Schedule will not be hard set and you have to be willing to be flexible to work when needed.
  • Has great organization skills of electronic documentation, physical documentation, and hardware.
  • Has a passion for the product and desire to make an impact on the sector.
  • Has a very good hands on approach to engineering and is able to use normal hand tool and power tools.
  • Able to assist with moving the aircraft and other heavy equipment.

Your Background

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or related field Required.
  • An advantage if you have electrical engineering experience.
  • 1-5 Years of engineering experience in new product development environment.
